Photography that challenges perspectives

Photography that endeavors not just to document scenes but to capture the poetry and art of nature. The soft flow of space and time and the grandeur of the wilderness spaces of Africa.

As a photographer I dont just want to just portray the surface of things but also a reverence for the unifying relationships existing between man and animal and the vast natural world that hold us all.

Aerial Art is a spectacular collection of photographs that record the astounding beauty, scale, and diversity of the vast wilderness spaces of southern Africa.

"This book is visual celebration of Africa from the unique bird's-eye

view from the seat of a light aircraft"

Flying thousands of hours in their specially modified aircraft, internationally recognized aerial photographers Jay and Jan Roode have spent more than a decade photographing some of the most remote and spectacular wilderness areas from above, revealing the beauty of wildlife in their natural habitats.

" For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older than ours, they move finished and complete, gifted with the extension of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings: they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth.”
