ELEPHANT HAVEN

Through habitat protection, community outreach, and the rescue and hand-rearing of young elephant orphans, Elephant Havens aims to become a leading voice in wildlife conservation awareness and wildlife protection. We envision a world in which African elephants and local communities co-exist without conflict, and where young elephant orphans are saved and reintroduced into the wild.

By educating local communities on elephant behavior and habitat protection, we hope to instill an understanding of the benefits of conservation. At the same time, we are working with farmers to discover specific areas of conflict with local elephants. Finding and implementing creative solutions to keep elephants from trampling crops and devastating livestock will go a long way towards reducing the human-elephant conflict.

Photography that challenges perspectives

I believe the spirit; the essence of wilderness exists within each of us; whether we have experienced places like this ourselves, are conscious of them or not. Just the idea that vast remote wilderness exists, immense wells of space, places that are beyond us and without limit, are as vital to humanity as air and water.

WILDSHOTS

 OUTREACH

Wild Shots Outreach's aim is to engage young people from disadvantaged communities in wildlife and wild places through photography.

The programme prioritises high school students from government schools and the young unemployed bordering the Kruger National Park.

It teaches new skills, providing a “focus” and introduction to the natural world and helps inspire and raise the aspirations of these learners – the conservationists of tomorrow.

FUNDACAO LIKHUKLU

Spearheaded by Karen Allen who has done much in creating the Bazaruto Marine Reserve and conserving the critically endangered Dugong. Fundacao Likhulu, a new marine conservation non-profit seeks to conserve key marine areas in Mozambique and to grow the country's future marine conservation leaders through education and research.

Likhulu means big wave in Rhonga ( the local dialect spoken in Maputo Province) and the Fundacao Likhulu is bringing waves of change in Mozambique- and especially in the future of marine conservation.
